also, i just finished reading galaxy of scents: the ancient art of perfume making (just for the smell of it) by dr. mary lynne, who sounded like she'd just be a nut job

it was actually a delightful book to read, highly recommended. and if anyone can do the chemistry she describes, i'd love to chat!
